So, I’ve lived in Austin for a year and some change and I’m gonna be honest….I’m not drinking the kool aid–yet. I’m not sure if it’s because my commute is forever and a day long, I’m not a BOB-runnin’ fool or what, but me and the Capitol City have not clicked. So, I thought, with your help, we could create an Austin Buck List of sorts and I can work to maybe fall in love with this city. Anytime I tell someone I live in Austin the conversation goes like this:
Person: Where do you live? Vanessa: Austin
Person: OMG! Awesome…you’re so lucky Vanessa: Meh…I don’t how how I feel about Austin yet.
Person: You’re crazy.
Must.change.this.
I think I’ve done a good job on the restaurant end. Mama V doesn’t like to cook so any chance I can get out to discover an Austin restaurant…I’m there. I love Taverna, Austin Java, Hopdoddy, Home Slice, etc. I’m also riding the Kendra Scott (we blogged about her awesomeness here) train…my wallet isn’t happy about it, but whatevs. It’s the other things.
Hopefully, by the end of today, I will have three things in each of these categories that will help be love this city.
- Three Family Friendly Outdoor Activities (I’ve done Zilker, splash pad in RR)
- Three Locally Owned Clothing Stores/Boutiques
- Three Places for a Date Night
- Three Places to Listen to Great Music
- Three Places to have the Best Cocktail
Obviously if there is something I’m missing, let me know via the comment section, but I need your help! I am just hoping I start to love living in this city.
